This is why when you are looking for bugs or eggs in your child’s hair you don’t see anything. Head lice can move like crabs in the hair - forwards, backwards, sideways, diagonal - and they avoid movement and bright light. So it’s a bit like hide and seek until you get an explosion of bugs and eggs and you see them everywhere (usually around the 4 week mark). Eggs measure 0.8 mm in length and 0.3 mm in width - not quite microscopic but small indeed. Put your mind to rest, when in doubt check it out!
